I would like to be Colonel for the Diamond Dancer team this upcoming year. I think I deserve this position because this past year as junior captain I worked hard to not only motivate the team but to try and unify them in a time of isolation.
2.Who, other than yourself, would you like to be Colonel and why?
I think Payton would be a great Colonel because of her leadership experience from being an exec and because I she always does the right thing even when no one is watching. She also has an amazing work ethic and is always striving to be the best version of herself.
3.Which do you feel should be more heavily weighted, overall ability, or leadership qualities when choosing an officer?
I definitely believe leadership qualities should be more heavily weighted because if a candidate lacks in those qualities but is a good dancer that doesn't help lead the team to success through the year.
4.Do you feel a candidates’grade(10th, 11th, 12th)should effect their tryout and/or their rank?
No I personally believe that if the candidate shows the maturity and qualities to be a great leader, age doesn't matter.
5.Do you feel that you have the maturity to deal with problems that will arise during the year? Explain.
Yes I think I have the maturity because whenever I am faced with a problem I deal with it right away head on.
6.What is your primary reason for wanting to become an officer at Reagan High School?
I loved being one this past year and helping people reach and surpass their potential is something I love to be a part of! Also I just love to dance!
7.How do you feel that your team views you as a person? As a leader?
I think the team sees me as a respectful kind person. I think they also think I lead by example and that I work hard and take criticism well.
8.What characteristics of the ideal line member to you exhibit and how?
I respect my director, teammates, as well as fellow line officers. I also always try to do the right thing when no one is watching and I lead by example. Finally I want even the non officers to have a voice and for everyone to feel equal title or no title.
9.Estimate the amount of time that you feel will be involved for the new officers during the summer.
Approximately half or just about half of the summer.
10.Do you feel that you can stand on your own judgmentand make decisions as an officer that may lose you a few friends? Are you sure? Explain.
Yes I feel like I can do that because if they were real friends they would respect your position as well as your decisions. Also all the decisions I make will be for the benefit of the team so I am positive that I can stand on my own judgement.
11.In a situation where the director gave you an order and neither you nor the team agrees with it, what would you do?
I would follow the order and approach the director one on one to talk about it without the team after.
12.How do you encourage discipline amongst the team? i.e. merit/demerit system, alternative activities
If certain team members aren't in roll 5 minutes after practice starts, the team as well as them will have to do ten burpees after class.
13.What previous officer do you admire the most and why?
I admire Taylor Bass because she pushed the team to be the best they could be and helped them achieve as well as surpass many of their goals.
14.What would you do if you heard a line member or even another officer making negative comments about the director?
I would tell them that's not right and if it kept getting worse I would tell the director.
15.If you saw a line member behaving in an immoral manner at a party, what should you do? (Immoral meaning tobacco, alcohol, drugs, sex) Do you feel that the director should be informed?
I most likely wouldn't be somewhere like that but if I was I would remind them of what they are risking for themselves as well as the team. I would also tell them to come clean to the director and if they didn't I would tell the director.
16.As an officer, how will you handle “Senioritis” when it hits this time next year? (yourself and the rest of the team)
I will encourage the rest of the seniors to absorb every last bit and give your all because this isn't an opportunity that comes around any day. I would also remind them of the other younger members and that we shouldn't give up because they still have time too.
17.What will you do when your best friend on the team challenges your authority as an officer?
If any of my friends silver or diamond challenged my position as an officer I would treat them as if anyone else talked back to me or did the same.
18.Define self-discipline. How does this apply to being an officer?
Self- discipline is being able to stay on track and keep yourself in line without the help of others. This is a major thing that factors into being an officer because you have to keep others on track as well as yourself without relying on someone else to do that or be a leader for you.
19.Define initiative. Do you have it?
Initiative in my mind means to take charge or responsibility for something. I think I have it because I hold myself accountable for my personal growth as well as helping others if and when it's needed.
20.How important is an officer’s attitude toward the following aspects of school conduct?Boy-Girl conductLady-like conduct (cursing, smoking, drinking)Conforming to school rules: skipping, etc.
I think all of those things listed above are important because the officer line is closely looked at and are the role models/set the example for Reagan Dance.
21.How will you provide motivation to your team members during times where morale is at a low?
I would remind them of how far we have come and how all of this hard work will pay off we just have to keep pushing!
22.What should you do when you hear rumors about the director, the team, or individuals on the team?
Because they are just rumors and most likely not true, I wouldn't share it unless it got out of hand then I would go straight to the director.
23.What do you see as your role in choreography for the team’s routines?
I think my strong suit for choreographing is in kick, lyrical, or jazz so I can see myself helping to contribute to any of those routines. :)

This year I strived to become better at hip hop by asking for corrections and watching myself in the videos and then correcting my mistakes. I feel as the year progressed I learned and watched the other officers while I also evolved and became unafraid of using my voice during zoom calls as well as during practices.
26.What’s something you admire about another team that you would like to see us adopt, in our own way, at Reagan?
I admire the BHS school team in Illinois because they have team sleepovers, movie/game night, or just do things outside of dance to create a closer bond on and off the dance floor.
27.HOW would we go about implementing the thing that you admire about the other team? Be specific.
I would give the idea of all of us going to the same restaurant or fast food chain after football games or after competitions! I would also propose the idea of like once in a while having a game day or movie night on a weekend which then could always morph into a sleepover! With all these ideas, I would check with Vrod before and because of COVID, these activities could also always be socially distanced and outside or even on a zoom!
28.If you do not make it for officer, what do you see your role being on next year’s team?
If I don't make it on the officer line, I foresee my role on the team to be a role model and still a leader without the title, but with that being said I would not step on the officers toes while doing that.

If I do not make an officer position or the position I desire my attitude to the team, fellow officers, and the director will be happy and overjoyed for the year to come! I would feel this way because whatever the outcome is it is made with the best intensions of the team and helping the team reach and surpass it's potential.

No I don't work outside of school and dance.
